Before/Until last week, I had never ridden a horse. I had been asking my parents for lessons for a few years before they finally agreed. They always said that I wouldn’t like it. We were having dinner at a restaurant for my birthday when they gave me a gift certificate for three lessons. I was so happy! I couldn’t wait for my first lesson, which they had scheduled for two weeks later.

After/When I arrived for my lesson, I met the trainer and the horse, Chestnut. We practised getting on and off the horse for a long time. It’s much harder than it looks! While I was sitting in the saddle, I started feeling nervous. What if I fell off? What if the horse moved suddenly? I didn’t feel better until the lesson was over. After/When the lesson was over, I was happy to say goodbye to the trainer and horse and go home. I think that was my first and my last horseback riding lesson! I hate to admit it, but I think my parents were right. Horseback riding is not my cup of tea.

Lösung

Hinweis: Deine Antwort kann auch etwas anders aussehen. Wichtig ist, dass du die past perfect-Formen richtig gebildet hast.

I visited my grammar school last week. I was surprised to see all the changes.

A new teacher, Ms. Mueller, had replaced my classroom teacher. The school had replaced books with tablets. The librarian had added three new computers to the library. The school had replaced our desks with tables. The school had also installed a computer lab where we used to eat lunch. There were a few things they hadn’t changed, though. They hadn’t painted the walls in the hallways a different colour – they were still yellow. They hadn’t changed the sports hall either.

Hint: You might have written some sentences like this –

My former teacher had been replaced by Ms. Mueller, a new teacher. The walls hadn’t been painted a different colour. These sentences use past perfect, but with the passive voice instead of the active voice.
