Musterlösung: If-clauses (type I) 1
Read the following text and solve the following tasks.
It was March and Paul’s birthday. He and his parents were at the Animal Rescue Centre to choose a dog. This is where people take all the animals with no homes. It was very loud in the Animal Rescue Centre.
“Oh, look at that big black dog over there! He looks so sad,” said Paul.
“If you take that dog, then you will have to go for long walks with it every day,” said the Animal Rescue Centre lady. “He needs a lot of exercise.”
“Well, I won’t have that much time because I play football two times a week after school,” answered Paul.
“What about that little brown dog?” asked his mother. “Does he need a lot of exercise?”
“All dogs need a lot of exercise. But if you take that dog, he can stay in your garden when you are at school. He is a very quiet dog,” answered the Animal Rescue Centre lady.
“No, I don’t want a little dog,” said Paul. “I want a bigger dog.”
The family looked at all the dogs and after an hour they left the Animal Rescue Centre with a dog called Fred. He was not big and not little.
They got into the car. The lady from the Animal Rescue Centre gave Paul a piece of paper with rules about how to look after a dog. Paul sat with Fred in the back of the car and read them:
Only give food to your dog one time a day.
Feed your dog dog-food. Don’t give food for people to your dog.
Take your dog for a walk two or three times a day.
Play with your dog.
Don’t shout at your dog.
Don’t let your dog run after cars (or postmen).
Your dog needs a bed. It should not sleep in your bed.
