    Translate the following sentences into German. If you are not sure what they mean, listen to Mariella’s voicemail. Sometimes the context makes it easier to translate.

    1. It was very interesting for us to hear about your lives. 
    2. Especially as far as school-life is concerned.
    3. Strangely, outside school teenagers seem to be the same all over the world.
    4. If you want to take your “Abitur” – which is comparable to A-Levels in the UK or high school graduation in America, since it allows you to go to university – you have to go to a “Gymnasium”.
    5. At those schools the pupils are divided into different groups for most subjects, depending on their abilities.
    6. We have a different timetable for each day of the week, but it is repeated week by week throughout of the school year.
    7. Since we don’t have a cafeteria, every pupil has to bring his or her own lunch to school.
    8. Oh, and just in case you are jealous that in Germany school finishes so early – we also start early!
